Designed for those with limited time, our 2-day Inca Trail allows you to experience the wonders of the final stretch of the classic 4-day hike in just a couple of days. Along the way, you’ll visit fascinating archaeological sites like the astonishing Wiñay Wayna. You’ll relax amidst rolling hills and enjoy your box lunch. Afterwards, you’ll reach the Sun Gate, where those completing the 4-day Classic Inca Trail enter Machu Picchu. Here, you’ll also have your first spectacular views of the impressive Machu Picchu in the distance. It’s truly a dreamlike landscape, so be sure to fully immerse yourself before departing; we’ll return the next morning. Your comfort is our top priority, so you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes, enjoy a rewarding dinner after your day of hiking, and get a good night’s sleep.
Day 1: Cusco | KM 104 – Chachabamba – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate (Inti Punku) – Machu Picchu
Travel along the original Inca Trail through magnificent landscapes surrounded by gigantic mountains and lush vegetation. Explore Inca archaeological sites and catch your first glimpse of Machu Picchu before spending the night in Aguas Calientes.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes | Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
Explore the magical Machu Picchu with your guide and discover its secrets before returning to Aguas Calientes. Then, board the train to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
Cusco (3,400 meters above sea level): Pick-up from your hotel and transfer to Ollantaytambo, then board the train to reach KM 104.
Our short version of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu starts at your hotel, where you will be picked up around 5:00 a.m.
Ollantaytambo Station (2,870 meters above sea level): From the hotel, you will travel approximately 1-1.5 hours with your guide to reach the town of Ollantaytambo. At this point, we will take the Expedition train to our starting point called KM 104 «Chachabamba.»
KM 104 Chachabamba (2,100 meters above sea level): At the starting point, you must show your Inca Trail permit, original passport, and ISIC card if you have one. This is where the Inca Trail begins, and we will start walking for 3.5 to 4 hours to Wiñayhuayna, where we will enjoy a good snack. The hike to Wiñayhuayna is a beautiful walk, where we can enjoy the incredible flora and surrounding landscape.
Inti Punku (2,700 meters level): After above sea lunch, we will hike for an additional two hours to Intipunku «Sun Gate,» where we views of will have excellent Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains. Here, we will have around 20 minutes to rest and admire the beautiful scenery.
Machu Picchu (2,430 meters above sea level): Subsequently, we will transfer to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.
Aguas Calientes (2,040 meters above sea level): Later, we will take a bus to Aguas Calientes and transfer to the hotel.
We will arrive there between 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. approximately, where we will head to our hotel for a short rest before enjoying a delicious dinner at one of our suggested restaurants.
Machu Picchu: On this last day, we will have breakfast at 5:00 a.m. at the hotel and then head to our bus that will take us to Machu Picchu Citadel.
To enter, you will also need to show your passport, entrance ticket, and ISIC card if you have one. You will then take a guided tour for approximately 2 hours, visiting the different ruins and temples. After the tour, you will have free time to explore the city and take all the desired photographs.
After enjoying the magnificent city of the Incas, you will use the bus ticket to descend to Aguas Calientes and then take the train back to Cusco via Ollantaytambo. The «Expedition Train» departs at 6:30 p.m. and arrives in Ollantaytambo after 2 hours. In Ollantaytambo, a bus will be waiting to take you back to Cusco. Your journey will end at around 10:30 p.m.
