This program will take you through the most important sites of Peru’s cultural capital, Cusco, as well as the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas. Then, you will embark on a 6-day hike along the Lares route, visiting small communities amidst the Andean mountains. The journey will culminate with a visit to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.     Itinerary

    TRAVEL ITINERARY

    We depart from Cusco by bus along the Sacred Valley route until we reach Huaran (2850 meters above sea level), where our journey begins. During the journey, we will enjoy beautiful views of crops and fruit trees, and we will make a snack stop in Somacpampa, a two-hour walk away. Afterwards, we will continue the hike towards the village of Cancha Cancha (3900 meters above sea level), observing the flora and beautiful waterfalls along the way. Finally, we will set up our first camp in this location.

    We will depart early towards Qeñococha to observe the beautiful Acopata lagoons. Then, we will ascend to Abra de Pachacutec at 4600 meters above sea level in a two-hour climb, and descend to Abra de Candarian to see the Candarian lagoon. Afterwards, we will continue the descent towards Qollalay to rest. Continuing towards Qeñococha, we will pass through the town of Quishuarani and ascend to Qeñococha at 4100 meters above sea level, where we will set up our second camp.

    On this day, we will start early and after breakfast, we will visit the Wikicocha and Azulcocha lagoons. From there, we will have an impressive view of the Qolquechacana snow-capped mountain and the Awayman waterfall, before descending to the village of Cuncani, where trout fishing is possible. After a 3-hour hike, we will arrive at Huacawasi, the location of our camp. In the afternoon, we will pass through the village of Cancha Cancha (3,950 m/12,959 ft) until we reach our cozy campsite in Acopata (4,200 m/13,780 ft) after a total of 7 hours of walking. Here, you can relax and enjoy a dinner prepared by our chefs before settling in for the night.

    We will depart at 7 am and begin the ascent towards Abra Qolquechacana. After lunch and about 3 hours of hiking, we will arrive at Patacancha, where we will set up our camp.

    After breakfast, we will start our hike where we will be able to see small archaeological sites, the Inca trail, and appreciate the traditional attire of local farmers. We will also have the opportunity to see the original Inca trail. Finally, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo where we will spend the night in a hotel.

    After breakfast, we board the train heading towards Aguas Calientes, where we will have the guided tour of Machu Picchu. Then, we will take the bus back down and the train back to Cusco.
