Day 01: Cusco – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria – Santa Teresa
Day 02: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
Day 03: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to start our journey in our private vehicle towards the Sacred Valley, passing through the typical towns of Chincheros and Ollantaytambo. We will then arrive at Abra Malaga, located at an altitude of 4,230 m / 13,877.953 ft, where we will begin the downhill bike ride for approximately 4 hours. Along the route, we will be able to observe various archaeological sites such as Inkatambo and Huamanmarca, as well as small villages, fruit fields, rivers, and streams. At the appropriate time, we will enjoy our outdoor lunch, and after a short rest, we will continue until we reach the town of Santa Maria, located at an altitude of 1,430 m / 4,691.601 ft. This is where the bike tour ends, and from this point, we will take a bus to Santa Teresa. In this place, we will enjoy dinner and spend the night at a lodge.
The day begins with a hearty breakfast that will help us start our 15 km hike, which takes about 6 hours, towards Aguas Calientes, passing through the Aobamba Valley until reaching Intihuatana. From there, you can appreciate the mountains of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu, as well as a wonderful jungle with great biodiversity, until reaching Hidroelectrica, where we will have a replenishing lunch. We will then continue the hike, this time alongside the train tracks, until we reach the town of Machu Picchu, better known as «Aguas Calientes.» The tour concludes with a delicious dinner, and then we will rest in a cozy accommodation.
This day will be solely dedicated to visiting the wonder of Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972,441 ft). We will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours, and then enough time to explore on our own or visit Huayna Picchu (not included in the tour).
After your visit to Machu Picchu, we will head back to the town of Machu Picchu. In the town, you will find many restaurants where you can choose according to your preference. You will then need to go to the train station and board the train for approximately 2 hours until you reach the Ollantaytambo station. There, the transportation will be waiting for you with your name and will transfer you to the city of Cusco, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
